Irishについて

Irish is the first official language of the Republic of Ireland and an official language of the European Union. There is a growing movement to revive everyday use of Irish, especially in Gaeltacht regions and through Irish-language media, schools, and social networks.

起源と歴史

Irish (Gaeilge) is a Celtic language and one of the oldest vernacular languages in Europe with a written tradition dating back to the 6th century. It is closely related to Scottish Gaelic and Manx. Despite centuries of decline under British rule, Irish has been revived as an official language of Ireland and the EU.
